Anti-hair loss activity

The efficacy of DermatoPoietin® in reducing excessive hair shedding was explored in a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study performed by the Skin Test Institute in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Forty volunteers with different etiologies of hair loss were included, 32 concluded the study.
The diagram on the right shows the outcome of study without the subjects obviously suffering from pathological hair loss with >110 hairs shed per day. Daily hair loss of each subject was normalized with the individual average hair loss assessed during 4 days at baseline. In comparison to placebo the group who applied DermatoPoietin® Hair Serum on Day 1-4 and on Day 10-13 experienced a significant reduction in hair loss which was time-dependent and amounted to between -17% and -81% during the duration of the study.
Interestingly, a few subjects, more women than men, who suffered from diffuse hair loss, noticed a clear increase of hair growth with new hair sprouting on areas sparcely covered by hair. This effect is currently being systemically investigated to find out to what extent DermatoPoieitn® promotes hair growth in subjects with androgenetic alopecia.

Figure. Reduction of hair loss in subjects, who applied DermatoPoietin® overnight from Day 1 - Day 4 and from Day 10 - Day 13, in comparison to the placebo group. For each period and group the hair loss was expressed in percentage of the respective average 4-day hair loss count at baseline. The effect had a rapid onset after the second application period and was long-lasting. **: p ≤ 0.01; N = 26.
